A Milky Way panorama looking East on a summer night.

Astrophotography is something I really enjoy and something I want to do a lot more of. I have only started experimenting with night photography the last couple of years. I find myself doing it mostly in the summer time when the temperatures are more comfortable and the galactic core of the Milky Way is most visible. The only hard part, is that in Montana with our long summer days, it makes for very late nights to stay up to do it. It does not get completely dark until almost midnight in the summer months. I am hoping to make it more of a priority this summer and I want to scout out some more places that would add some foreground interest to my pictures.

Milky Way over a cabin with clouds coming in and Mars shining brightly.

The Sun during the Solar eclipse with sunspots visible and clouds in the frame.

One of my first Milky Way shots over the cabin. This was on a crop sensor body so I wasn’t able to capture as much of the galactic core as I would have liked.
